Frequently Asked Questions
About Matthew Luke Publishing
Why is it called Matthew Luke Publishing?
My name is John Mark. John and Mark are two of the four Gospels in the Christian Bible, and Matthew and Luke are the other two. The company name and my original pen name were therefore a pun.
I chose to use an alias because I was on active duty when I published my first two books and did not want to draw undue attention to myself.
Build Quality
How are the printed editions constructed?
Our printed editions use format-specific materials selected for durability, color reproduction, and handling.

Most titles use 128 gsm matte art paper, spot-gloss varnish, CMYK printing, and PUR binding; SS1, SS2, SSC, and MFP use 128 gsm glossy art paper without spot-gloss varnish.
What is the difference between Reflowable and Fixed eBooks?
Reflowable eBooks allow text to adapt to the reader's screen and settings. Readers can usually change the font, text size, line spacing, and margins. They do not have fixed page layouts or fixed page numbers, so text, images, and pagination may move as the display changes.
Fixed eBooks preserve the designed pages, including the placement of text, diagrams, and images. They provide a consistent visual layout, but readers may need to zoom or pan on smaller screens.
Choose Reflowable for adaptable text and reading controls. Choose Fixed Format when the exact page design or placement of illustrations matters. Check the product page for the formats offered and confirm that your device supports the selected file type.
Which colors are used for hardcover endsheets and headbands?
Hardcover accent colors are assigned by title family:
- Red: SUT, SUTR, LRSU, and SS1.
- Blue: SUR.
- Orange: LRS and SSC.
- Yellow: ALRS and SS2.
- Dark green: MFP.
These codes identify title families used in our production specifications. The product page remains the authoritative source for the exact edition offered.
Where can I find a book's exact specifications?
Open the product page and check its Specifications section for the available page count, dimensions, weight, language, ISBN, and publication details. Specifications may differ between formats and titles.
Orders & Purchases
How do I cancel or edit an order?
Your order and payment are placed through our Shopify store; Amazon Multichannel Fulfillment (MCF) picks, packs, and ships the physical items. Contact us immediately at Support@MattPub.com with your order number if you need to cancel an order or correct its shipping information.
MCF can cancel a fulfillment order only before its shipping label has been generated. Changes are therefore not guaranteed, even shortly after checkout. If fulfillment has already begun, we may need to let the shipment arrive and handle the item under our return policy. A successfully canceled paid order is refunded through Shopify to the original payment method; the time for the credit to appear depends on the payment provider.
How can I track my order?
Shopify sends an order confirmation after checkout. When Amazon MCF ships the order and tracking is added to Shopify, you receive a shipping confirmation with a link to the order-status page and the carrier's tracking page. The same information can appear in the Shop app when that option is enabled.
MCF may use Amazon Logistics or another carrier, and tracking can take time to update after a label is created. The carrier's latest scan and estimated delivery date are the best guide after shipment.
What if there is a problem with my order?
Contact Matthew Luke Publishing—not Amazon customer service—at Support@MattPub.com. Amazon MCF fulfills the shipment, but we remain responsible for customer service, replacements, returns, and refunds.
Include your order number, a description of the issue, and clear photographs of the item and shipping package when the order is damaged or incorrect. For a shipment that is lost or damaged while Amazon or its carrier controls it, we will investigate the MCF shipment and arrange the appropriate refund or replacement.
I did not receive my complete order. What should I do?
Amazon MCF may divide one order into separate shipments. Check the Shopify order-status page and every shipping confirmation for separate tracking numbers and delivery estimates.
If all shipments are marked delivered and an item is still missing—or a package contains the wrong item—contact us at Support@MattPub.com with your order number and the affected item. We will review the MCF shipment and arrange the appropriate resolution.
Returns & Exchanges
What is your returns policy?
Our additional change-of-mind return offer is limited to physical products fulfilled through Amazon Multi-Channel Fulfillment (MCF) that are eligible for its return process. Request the return within 30 days after delivery. For this voluntary offer, the item must be unused, complete and in resalable condition with its original packaging and proof of purchase. We do not offer additional voluntary change-of-mind returns for other orders. These conditions do not restrict statutory rights.
How do I initiate a return?
Email Support@MattPub.com for returns, cancellation or refund requests. Include your order number or other proof of purchase and identify the items. For damaged or incorrect items, photographs can help us resolve the issue; contact us if you cannot provide them. You do not need to give a reason to exercise a statutory withdrawal right.
Can I exchange an item instead of returning it?
Matthew Luke Publishing handles your refund; Amazon does not automatically issue it or perform a direct exchange. After the return is checked, we notify you of the outcome. An eligible replacement depends on availability. Refunds use the original payment method unless the law requires or you expressly agree to another method, without a refund fee. Your payment provider controls when a processed credit appears.
