How are the printed editions constructed?

Our printed editions use format-specific materials selected for durability, color reproduction, and handling.

  • 4 × 6 Field Manual: 300 gsm glossy art-paper cover with glossy lamination and CMYK printing; no shrink wrap. The interior uses 80 gsm woodfree paper with CMYK printing and standard softcover binding without PUR.
  • 6 × 9 Paperback: 350 gsm glossy art-paper cover with glossy lamination, CMYK printing, and shrink wrap. Most titles use 128 gsm matte art paper with CMYK printing and PUR binding; SS1, SS2, SSC, and MFP use 128 gsm glossy art paper.
  • 6 × 9 Hardcover: 157 gsm glossy art paper mounted to 3.5 mm grey board, with glossy lamination, CMYK printing, 170 gsm eight-page full-thickness colored endsheets, and shrink wrap. Most titles use 128 gsm matte art paper, spot-gloss varnish, CMYK printing, and PUR binding; SS1, SS2, SSC, and MFP use 128 gsm glossy art paper without spot-gloss varnish.
  • Reflowable: a digital edition with text that adapts to the reader's screen; physical production specifications do not apply.
